Victoria Murphy (MEng, MA) is currently a postgraduate researcher at the Institute of Educational Technology, the Open University, the UK. Her current project focuses is sponsored by the Energy Institute and focuses on Learning From Incidents in industrial settings. Learning From Incidents is a fascinating field of study that involves combining education, psychology, risk management, Human Resources and a host of other disciplines to understand the dynamic nature of creating safe environments.
Current Areas of Interest
Education has many interesting problems to understand but currently the following stand out:
- Influence of networks on knowledge flow and acquisition
- Interactions between technology and students working together face to face
- Benefits of dialogic pedagogy
Previous Work and Education
Victoria spent two years at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland reading Education before receiving her Master’s degree. She also hold a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Durham University.
International experience has been at the heart of Victoria’s life having worked in Singapore for Google’s Learning & Development team, in Japan teaching English at local schools, and in New York as part of OKpanda’s Teacher Operations team.
